Deadlines and dates

If your child was born between 1 October 2016 and 30 September 2017, he or she will start school in August 2023. If your child was born between 1 October 2017 and 31 March 2018, he or she can also start school in August 2023 – at the parents’ request. Registration at your catchment primary school had to take place between 10 and 21 October 2022. You can apply for school attendance at IMS before, at the same time or after registration at the catchment primary school.

Applications for the school year 2023/24 are now open. We conduct regular job shadowing for the future class 1. For classes 2 to 6 you can be put on the waiting list. For the school year 2024/25 (Grade 1) we will accept applications from August 2023. An open day will be held in September 2023.

The school year in Germany runs from 1 August to 31 July each year. The first class starts one week after the end of the summer holidays. In summer 2023, the first day of classes for grades 2 to 6 is 28 August 2023 and for grades 1 is 4 September 2023.
