In the first few weeks of each school year, the children elect their class representatives within the learning groups. Taking on such a task is a great responsibility and often raises many questions.
A first meeting of these representatives will take place in November 2024, initially led by one of our teachers. The focus will be on getting to know each other, finding a name for this group and planning and conducting the election of the school spokesperson.
Within the IMS, it is important to us to create space for participation and experiences. According to Maria Montessori, children between the ages of 6 and 12 are in a sensitive phase that focuses on the development of new social relationships and moral awareness in particular. In January 2025, the school parliament will therefore be looking at which characteristics are suitable and helpful as class representatives. We pay particular attention to the individual strengths of each person.
In the future, we will prepare the school parliament to meet at certain intervals in a self-organized and self-responsible manner, to discuss current topics, to contribute their own ideas and to implement them in consultation and in exchange with the school management.
