On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the International Montessori School Berlin opened its doors to its new first graders—a special day full of joy, excitement, and festive cheer, lovingly prepared by the entire school community. It was a moment that marked the beginning of a wonderful educational journey.

An unforgettable day for our new students

The celebration began with a warm welcome from Headmaster Alexander Delport at the historic Landhaus Oppenheim. Parents, siblings, teachers, and future classmates gathered to welcome the children. Bright eyes, excited glances, and quiet giggles—the joy was palpable as the first graders took their first steps into the big, exciting world of learning.

Special mention must be made of the dedicated team of teachers for grades 1–3, who worked with headmaster Alexander Delport to prepare for the first day of school with great attention to detail. Every little gesture, every surprise was designed to give the children an unforgettable start.

Music, community, and shared laughter

Dieter Neels created a cheerful, festive atmosphere on the guitar, whose sounds made the children beam and the adults hum along. Numerous helping hands—from teachers to parents to older students—contributed to the smooth running of the celebration. Together, they created a harmonious atmosphere that made this day a special experience for everyone. Around 200 visitors celebrated this special moment full of joy and community. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who made this unforgettable day possible. This also includes Ms. Fadeni-Biessei and her team, who provided space for the audience to follow the varied program in the event hall of the Wannsee schools.

Montessori education: learning with joy and curiosity

Montessori education is at the heart of the celebration and everyday school life: each child is encouraged individually, allowed to discover their own interests and learn at their own pace. Mixed-age groups and a carefully prepared learning environment offer children the freedom to explore independently, be creative and experience learning as an adventure.

A festive finale in the quiet garden

The crowning finale was a festive moment in the school’s idyllic quiet garden, located in the historic Oppenheim country house. Here, children, parents, and the entire school team were able to end the special day in a relaxed atmosphere, engage in conversation, and share their first wonderful memories of the new school.

A brilliant start to the new school year

The enrollment ceremony not only provided a festive welcome for the first graders, but also strengthened the sense of community among the entire school community. With music, small performances, cheerful get-togethers, and a quiet, festive finale in the garden, this day became a radiant, unforgettable experience – a perfect start to a new, exciting school year full of discoveries and shared moments.
