Dear Parents,
The German Weather Service has issued a warning for unusual weather conditions in Berlin on Friday. Severe frost, up to 15 cm of fresh snow, and wind gusts of up to 60 km/h are expected. This may result in snow drifts and significant slippery conditions. This combination is rare, so special caution is advised.
Emergency childcare will be open, taking into account the local conditions. The safety of the route to the building and the outdoor area will be checked regularly on site. Outdoor activities will not take place in icy conditions, strong winds, or limited visibility.
As parents, please decide for yourselves whether the route is safe on this day or notify the emergency childcare service at ims@montessori-friends.de if you decide not to send your child.
Please plan your route carefully and make sure you have suitable clothing and enough time to get to the emergency childcare service at Marille School.
The power supply at IMS has been restored. We are currently preparing to return to regular school operations and, as things stand today, we expect that we will all be able to return to our school building on Monday, January 12, 2026.
We were able to carry out a technical inspection of the most important systems in the building. There was no damage and the systems are back in operation. We are very happy about this. Unfortunately, the heating system is not able to heat the rooms and masonry again within a few hours.
