A new school year has begun and the children in the first grades are slowly becoming more confident at IMS. There is so much to discover: the schoolyard and the school building, the quiet garden, and the full-day program after school.
The educators in the after-school care area organize educational transition activities after class until the fall break. After that, the program is developed in a participatory manner based on the children’s wishes and suggestions.
This week, a large work of art was created in this context. A schoolyard mandala that quickly spread beyond its initial boundaries. Using chalk in a wide variety of colors, the children in grades 1-3 were able to give free rein to their creativity.
We see a wide variety of techniques, forms, ideas, and inspirations—as individual as each child.
At the same time, cooperative activities can foster a sense of community, appreciation, and consideration for others.
Ultimately, the result is a joint work that everyone involved can look at with pride.
